Registration - Fall 2020 (Whitby Ringette)

PrintRegistration - Fall 2020

Whitby Ringette Association
Fall 2020 Registration

It's been a long time since we were on the ice, but luckily things are moving forward and we are getting closer to starting the 2020/2021 Season.  Right now we are registering for Fall only, but with the expectation that we will be able to run a full season until March/April 2021, and hopefully be able to play more traditional ringette starting in January 2021.  It is very difficult to predict where we will be at the beginning of 2021, so it was decided that this would be the best way to move forward.

Ringette Ontario has defined 5 Phases in our return to ringette, they are as follows.
Phase 1 - No Ringette Activity
Phase 2 - On-Ice Skills and Drills
Phase 3 - Modified Return to Play (50 Player Mini Leagues)
Phase 4 - Return to 5 on 5 Game Play with Limited Travel
Phase 5 - Return to Full Competition

Our movement through these phases is dependent on many factors including Ringette Ontario Approval, Durham and Whitby Health Guidelines and Ontario Government Direction.  Also it may not be linear, for instance, if there is a serious outbreak we may be forced to move back one phase or more.

In order to determine registration fees the association had to make some assumptions on our and the regions progress during these uncertain times.  Below is a summary of what we plan to offer for the Fall 2020.

Division Age Group Registration Fees Program Summary
U19 - U10  2002 - 2012 $400 12 Week Program
 - 2 x 1 Hour Ice Times / Week
 - 10 x 3v3 Games (included in ice time above)

 U8 - U6  2013 - 2016 $250 12 Week Program
 - 2 x 1 Hour Ice Times / Week
 - including Modified Play Games

1. New Player Discount ($100) for any new player this year that has never registered with any other ringette association in the past.
2. Goalie Discount (50%) for any registrant that plays goal for >=50% of the season in U12 and above.

COVID Protocols (Subject to Change)
We will be following all Whitby, Durham and Ontario Public Health Guidelines (these are still under development specific to Whitby Arena).  We expect they will be as follows:
- Each ice pad will have a separate entrance, common hallways will be closed
- Players will enter the arena dressed in all but Helmets, Skates and Gloves, which will be put on rink side
- 1 Spectator per participant will be allowed, no more then 50 people in one ice pad
- Masks are required when in the building, only removed when going on the ice
- 24 participants are allowed on the ice for practices (20 players, 4 coaches)
- When we are able to start modified games teams will consist of 10 players and 2 bench staff on the bench
- Coaches will disinfect all equipment after each practice / game
- If any player / coach feels ill during a practice or game they will be isolated and need to provide a doctor's note to return
- Any COVID event may require a team or group to suspend activities temporarily

Team Grouping
All players will be split into groups of approx. 20 players based on age and previous years level of play.  With input from coaches and parents we will assign players to groups that maximize their development potential and enjoyment.  Final decisions on player grouping will be with the Whitby Ringette Board.

U8/U6 Grouping
All players in the U8/U6 group will need to be able to be able to stand up on their own or a parent will need to be registered as an on ice volunteer and come on the ice with the player until they are able to stand on their own.  This is due to COVID protocols, and our helpers not being able to touch players.

On ice volunteers need to complete the following requirements: Coach Initiation in Sport Online Course, Making Headway E-Learning Module, and complete a background check.  There will be additional cost to complete this.  Please contact [email protected] to discuss this process further.

Power Skating & Skills
To keep costs at a minimum we'll be offering optional power skating and skills sessions at an additional cost.  Details will be released prior to the start of the season.

Next Steps
1. If you have already registered in RAMP and paid the $50 deposit, please e-transfer the remaining registration fee to [email protected], or email to make other arrangements.  (Example - U12 Registration Fee is $400 - $50 deposit, transfer $350)

2. If you have not registered, please REGISTER HERE and follow the payment instructions.  While we will do everything possible to find a group for all players, we are limited on the numbers we can have on the ice, so please register early.

3. If you have registered and choose not to continue with the fall program, email [email protected] to request a refund of your $50 deposit.  Please do this by September 15th, 2020 or this deposit will no longer be able to be refunded.
