The Regional Ringette Program is provided for players that are looking for a more competitive game of Ringette and have previous ice skating experience. Players do not need to attend “try-outs” to participate in the Regional program; Regional teams are formed based on registration and the primary concern is team formation, not skill level. The goal and focus of Regional level play program is to ensure every player that wishes to participate in the program has a place to play. Depending on enrollment, Whitby Ringette offers Regional Ringette for the following ages- U8, U9, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U19.

Regional Ringette consists of 16 league games (Saturdays or Sundays), weekly practices,  and additional player development opportunities including power skating and on-ice skills training. Teams begin practicing in mid-September and some local travel is required for 8 away games taking place throughout the region (e.g. Ajax/Pickering, Oshawa, Richmond Hill, Markham, and possibly Mississauga, Newmarket, Barrie and Sunderland). Teams typically participate in 3 or 4 tournaments throughout the year (usually 1 would take place out of town i.e. overnight stay), and the season concludes with a year-end Regional Championship tournament (held locally).

Tournaments and other team-based ancillary costs (e.g. optional off-ice clothing, team-building expenses) are an additional cost on top of the registration fee. Regional players at the U12 and younger age groups also have the option of participating in House League games.

Cost: Variable based on age and level

U8 registration includes 10 LEARN TO SKATE sessions with a certified Skate Canada instructor

U9, U10, U12, U14, U16 will receive 8 power skating sessions and 8 skill sessions.   All included in your registration.

** U10-U19 full time goalies are eligible for 40% off registration fees.

To Register:  Visit our registration homepage.

Provincial A and Provincial AA are competitive programs, and representative teams are formed through a try-out process where selected players are invited to join a team. Whitby Ringette offers Provincial A programs at the U12, U14, U16, U19 age levels, and AA teams at the U14, U16, U19 levels (may vary each year). Typically, AA teams consist of elite level players from across Central Region, with one of the local Central Region associations hosting the AA team (i.e. either Ajax Pickering, Whitby or Oshawa associations). The commitment for Provincial Ringette is higher than a Regional team, and it is expected that Provincial teams receive more ice time for both games and tournaments. Teams generally participate in more than 4 tournaments in a season and there are additional costs associated to further development on and off the ice.  With the exception of the U12 Provincial level and AA level teams, teams need to qualify for year-end Provincial Championships.

Cost: Variable based on age and level

U12P-U19AA full time goalies are eligible for 40% off registration fees.

U12P, U14A, U16A, will receive 8 power skating sessions and 8 skill sessions.   All included in your registration.
