Huge congratulations going out to the Members of the Whitby Ringette Association, that have just returned from the 2018 Finland Lions Cup —- with a GOLD MEDAL!!!

Ajax and Whitby put together a dream team for the u14A division in the Finland tournament arranged by Pelimatkat Sports Travel tours.

The tour began in Stockholm, Sweden with outstanding accommodations, tours, exhibition games, dinners, excursions and sightseeing. Then an overnight cruise to Helsinki — karaoke and breathtaking views... of the sunset AND the sunrise !! THe Helsinki Haukat ringette club hosted 3 exhibition games and the DURHAM WILDSTARS went undefeated But that was just a warm up.

Onto the round-robin play. Durham Wildstars went undefeated in spite of the high intensity play. 3 wins and 1 tie !!! The gold medal game didn’t disappoint since we were playing the team that tied us in game 4. They wanted it. But we wanted it more.

DURHAM WILDSTARS are only the 2nd Canadian team to hoist the trophy in the history of the lions cup !!! I am blessed to have been a part of this journey - this adventure. The coaches, bench staff, parents and players were a dream to travel with. The girls (and parents) will carry these memories with them forever. Together.

Gold medals around our necks, we are on our way to Iceland.
Blue Lagoon and waterfalls await !
